An end-to-end deep convolutional neural network system with Grad-CAM explainability, clinical sensitivity benchmarks, and a doctor-assisted radiological triage interface.
Test the deep learning diagnostic model live in your browser. Choose preloaded clinical test cases or upload any chest radiograph to inspect focal opacities and gradient heatmaps.

Simulating clinical PACS/EMR integration: structured findings, pulmonary zone descriptions, and doctor-verified impression reports.
Patient ID: PT-910482 | Age: 42 | Sex: Female | Modality: Digital Radiography (PA View)
Indication: Acute fever (38.9°C), productive purulent cough, and pleuritic right-sided chest discomfort. Evaluate for acute infectious consolidation.
Lungs: Increased focal radiographic density in the right lower pulmonary zone compatible with lobar airspace opacity. Air bronchograms visible within the opacity. Left lung field is clear without evidence of infiltrates or effusion.
Pleura: Costophrenic sulci and cardiophrenic angles are sharp bilaterally without pleural fluid accumulation.
Cardiomediastinal Silhouette: Cardiac size and mediastinal contours are within standard physiological limits.
Grad-CAM Spatial Focus: Maximum gradient activation localized over the right basilar segment (activation peak = 0.998).
1. Findings consistent with ACUTE BACTERIAL PNEUMONIA involving the right lower lobe.
2. High diagnostic probability (99.8%). Recommended priority category: STAT clinical review.
3. Correlation with laboratory inflammatory markers (WBC, CRP, procalcitonin) and empirical antibiotic protocol initiation suggested.
Clean, reproducible architecture built with Keras 3 and OpenCV. Engineered specifically for clinical explainability and rapid turnaround on edge compute.
Converts raw input to 128×128 grayscale and applies Contrast-Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization to accentuate faint ground-glass and interstitial opacities.
Four cascading blocks: Conv2D (32, 64, 128, 128 filters) with 3×3 kernels, ReLU non-linearities, and 2×2 MaxPooling layers for spatial feature abstraction.
Global Average Pooling condenses 128 feature channels directly into a 1D vector, followed by Dense(128) and 50% Dropout to prevent overfitting on clinical phantoms.
Extracts gradients of the output prediction with respect to the final convolutional layer (`last_conv`), generating localized heatmaps overlaid onto the original radiograph.
A high accuracy score is useless if a model is "right for the wrong reasons." Early medical imaging networks famously cheated by learning border artifacts, hospital letterhead markers, or patient position tags rather than pathological lesions.
In medical diagnostics, missing a diseased patient (False Negative) is catastrophic. That is why our pipeline prioritizes clinical sensitivity and ROC-AUC over simple accuracy.
Evaluated on 200 independent test set radiographs (100 NORMAL, 100 PNEUMONIA).
| Pred: NORMAL | Pred: PNEUMONIA | |
| Actual: NORMAL | 100True Negative (TN) | 0False Positive (FP) |
| Actual: PNEUMONIA | 0False Negative (FN) | 100True Positive (TP) |
